Water Proffer was born from a conversation with friends over dinner in 2007.  The group was made up of young professionals in media, fashion and medicine and our topic turned to the environment.  One friend, we'll call him Sam, only drank French-bottled water and everyone chided his behavior, enraged that he was being irresponsible to our environment by disposing hundreds of plastic bottles per year. 

Then we realized it wasn't just the Sam's of the world that were part of the problem---we ALL were guilty of "bottle-buying" more often than was truly necessary--going to the gym, on our way to work, out to dinner.  We all knew global warming was a reality, yet many at the table felt there was little we could do individually to truly make an impact towards helping the environment.  We all drank tremendous amounts of water throughout the day.  How could we maintain our water-drinking routine without frequent consumption from our plastic bottle we bought at stores and delis every day?  And even if we had reusable bottles, who wants to walk around carrying clunky 1980's hiking bottles around work?  They're not practical for urban-life--we would need something portable, easy-to-clean, and it would have to have a sleeker look that matches each of our personal styles. 

And the Water Proffer was born.
